  8. I have a very untidy (clean but messy) house. I now put aside 20 mins a day to organise. It can be paperwork that needs filing, or a kitchen shelf that needs rearranging, or going through a pile of magazines and junk mail to toss out. I only do 20 mins a day, so I don't get overwhelmed and give up. Every day I feel very proud of having achieved one small thing which motivates me to do the same thing tomorrow.

  24. use a timer - I have been using 15 minute blocks for a little while now in my cleaning routine. A task seems much more do-able if it is only short. It also helps with the kids if I tell them I am cleaning for 15 minutes, when the timer finishes I can come and play then. The kids will often occupy themselves for longer than that and I can sometimes even fit in another 15 minute session before they come looking for me again.

Go around the house with a laundry basket and pick up all of the toys, clothes, and other scattered items, then put them away once you have gathered them all up. Makes it much easier than walking back and forth into each room.
