Chocolate and Maple Syrup Slice

Please excuse the bad photo. I need to replace my lens on my camera after I dropped it just before Christmas!

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup self raising flour
  • 1/2 cup of desiccated coconut
  • 2 tablespoons of cocoa
  • 3/4 cup maple syrup
  • 125g butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup 100′s & 1000s
Method:
  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius
  2. Mix flour, cocoa and coconut.
  3. Melt butter
  4. Lightly beat the egg.
  5. Add melted butter, egg and maple syrup and mix with a wooden spoon.
  6. Press into a lined baking tray
  7. Get the kids to sprinkle the 100's and 1000's on top, Or you could just do it yourself.
  8. Bake in pre-heated oven for about 20 minutes depending on your oven. I am still getting to know my new oven so I checked it at the 20 minute mark and had to give it a few more minutes.
I sliced this up and froze individual portions for school lunches.

What baking have you done recently?

  2. It's funny, just this morning, I was looking at the maple syrup thinking I might try baking with it and lo and behold I find myself here. Thank you and happy baking,

  3. OMG that looks amazing. I love that you were able to chop it up and freeze it - it would never ever last long enough to actually freeze in my house. And I'm only referring to me, not the rest of the family - because I obviously wouldn't tell them about it, and I'd hide it at the back of the freezer behind the peas, all for me!

  4. This looks great - easy, and doesn't need icing. We always have a bottle of maple syrup in the cupboard too because we are a Saturday morning pancake family.
